weddings, oh my!

Big news ... I'm engaged! Okay, well I've been engaged for almost two years now with my fiance, who I have been with for over eight years (*my college sweetheart). No, we're not slackers ... we're both artists + designers doing the whole entrepreneur thing, and we have just been insanely busy and really haven't had a chance to start planning ... until now! Our wedding isn't until next year, 2011. And though we have hundreds of details to go over, we have one detail solidified ... the location! Since my family is 10x's bigger than my fiance's and the majority resides in Peru, South America, we decided to have a destination wedding! We're excited :) So stay tuned for details about my ongoing wedding planning! ... and if you can recommend any great wedding planning sites/blogs for us, let us know! *much appreciated!

de*nada's autumn + winter 2010 collection is complete! It's absolutely lovely! Tons of new styles for the ladies, and introducing many new styles for the gents :) I look forward to debuting it in the later months. However til then, we're working hard to set-up our new look book for this upcoming collection. I must say that look book shoots are one of the most enjoyable part of my job! I love photography (art overall), and to be able to work with such a skilled, creative group of artists (photographer, stylists, make-up + hair stylists, models, + assistants.) is just inspirational!

Planning a look book shoot involves weeks of preparation (to say the very least). For me, I simply start off by compiling various images from magazines, books, and from the web that inspire me (taking into consideration, the mood of the collection). Personally, this helps me visualize what direction I want to head towards in regards to the shoot's theme/aesthetics (plus, describing to your team of stylists what you want overall is so much easier with images than with words).

These images by photographer, Rodney Smith definitely inspired me. I love how each photo conveys a bit of beauty, elegance, and mystery. And I love how the models are posed in each photo, as if there's a story behind each photograph. For more information, please visit: Rodney Smith.

I'm a bit sad that 2009 is already gone ... I mean, this year was incredible for de*nada! This past year, we launched our second collection with great success alongside the debut of our new online site + shop. Not only did we receive numerous notable press mentions, but we also received tons of love + support from our customers and stockists!

As an artist + business person, it's always extremely nerve-wrecking whenever it's time to showcase a new collection (... or better yet, it's always nerve-wrecking). And so, I send out my sincere thank you's to all who love + support de*nada! ... I wish I could savor 2009 a bit more!!
