press: washington dc examiner.

de*nada was recently featured in the Washington, DC's Examiner; "Local love: knits by de*nada" Here's a bit from the feature:

"My tired eyes immediately picked up on her cowl knit scarf. Draped around her neck, it may have been the most sumptuous piece of neck wear I've ever seen. Call it shallow, but that perked up my Monday morning immediately (it's quite obvious I have an obsession with fashion).

I did what I always do when I desire something. "Where did you get that from?"

She smiled and replied, "It's actually by a local designer. It's called de*nada."

The entire article is absolutely lovely, and I send out my sincere thank you's to Brigette, DC Accessories Examiner for featuring us! To read the entire article, please visit www.examiner.com/x-35621-DC-Accessories-Examiner

loves: nancy meyers' films.

This past weekend, I happened to be sick. Not terribly sick, but just enough to keep me on the couch. To keep me well occupied, I had my laptop, iphone plus, a stack of my favorite DVD’s (for those "whenever I'm sick days") close by.

Whenever I'm sick, my movies of choice to watch happens to be my collection of Nancy Meyers' films: The Holiday, Something Gotta Give, What Women Want, and Baby Boom. Yes, I opt for chick flicks versus actions flicks (one of my guilt pleasures in life :)). What can I say? I love romantic comedies ... my fiancé hates them; hence sick days are the only days I can really enjoy them without complaint.

I've always been a fan of Meyers' work. The first film I ever watched of hers was Baby Boom back when I was eight years old ... and till this day, it's still one of my favorites. In general, I love her writing and how she portrays the female lead in each of her films. They tend to be intelligent, successful and independent women, all dealing with the complexities of contemporary relationships.

Hope you had a great + healthy weekend!

inspiration: vi.sualize.

I recently found online vi.sualize.us, and instantly fell in love with it. What is it? It's a social bookmarking website for visual contents ... basically allowing you to remember your favorite images around the web, and share them with everyone (if you like).

In my opinion, the images that they have available are absolutely gorgeous! And since a lot of my inspirations for de*nada's look books starts off with photography, this site is just a great resource for me. Here's a few photos that I absolutely love!

de*nada: behind the scenes / look book 2010.

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of working with a talented team of stylists / photographer + filmmaker / models / assistants to document de*nada's autumn + winter 2010 collection. As I said in previous posts, setting up/completing a look book shoot is one of the most enjoyable and inspirational part of my job. It's a time for me to collaborate with other creative individuals to create a group of photographs that describes properly the mood of my collection(s). And this time around, I'm extremely excited to say that we will be unveiling a collection's video along with the look book photographs!

Special thanks to Lise Metzger (photographer), Morgan Hungerford (stylist), Akemi Kanazaki (make-up stylist ), Rebekah Calo (hair stylist), Sebastien Tobler (filmmaker), Tara Kocourek (producer), Erin Spencer (assistant), Kelly Towles (caterer + my ultimate support), and our lovely models, Allison and Cliford.

To view additional photos from our look book's behind the scenes, please visit our facebook page. Our autumn + winter 2010 look book + collection's video will debut on our site in June 2010.
