This past weekend, I happened to be sick. Not terribly sick, but just enough to keep me on the couch. To keep me well occupied, I had my laptop, iphone plus, a stack of my favorite DVD’s (for those "whenever I'm sick days") close by.
Whenever I'm sick, my movies of choice to watch happens to be my collection of
Nancy Meyers' films:
The Holiday,
Something Gotta Give,
What Women Want, and
Baby Boom. Yes, I opt for chick flicks versus actions flicks (one of my guilt pleasures in life :)). What can I say? I love romantic comedies ... my fiancé hates them; hence sick days are the only days I can really enjoy them without complaint.
I've always been a fan of Meyers' work. The first film I ever watched of hers was Baby Boom back when I was eight years old ... and till this day, it's still one of my favorites. In general, I love her writing and how she portrays the female lead in each of her films. They tend to be intelligent, successful and independent women, all dealing with the complexities of contemporary relationships.
