trick o treat!

Today is Halloween, one of my favorite days of the year! Who can resist the candy, costumes, pumpkin carving, and parties? I, for one, can not. I'm a kid at heart, and til this day I enjoy everything and anything involving Halloween; including carving a pumpkin, watching horror films and munching on candy, eating pumpkin pie, and of course dressing up and heading out to parties!

Whatever you decide to do today, Have fun and have a Happy Halloween!

Much love,

de*nada.

Gracias! - ReadysetDC's Fashion:District.

Thank you to all who attended ReadysetDC's fashion:district last night at Stroga (Washington, DC)! It was our very first fashion show, and I have to say that we had an amazing time! Many thanks to ReadysetDC's crew for organizing such a great event - a perfect platform for local designers and boutiques to showcase their current collections in front of DC's creative/fashionable community.

My team and I worked crazy hard on this fashion show organizing model casting calls, gathering hair & make-up inspirations, and figuring out outfits for models that would help highlight de*nada knit accessories. I send out my sincere thank you and appreciation to my team - it's because of their hard work and passion that we were able to make our first fashion show a success! Special thanks to my lovely models - you guys are amazing, and truly worked it on the runway!!

Gracias, gracias, gracias!! - Photos coming soon!

Check out a video from ReadysetDC's first fashion:district:

art: re:form school.

Last weekend, I took a break from work and traveled up to New York City. My fiance, Kelly Towles was up there a week prior setting up his artwork at re:form school. Re:form School is a high profile group art exhibition that took place in New York City - its goal is to bring together the creative community in a call for the reform of the American Public Education System.

To support his amazing talent and the exhibition's great cause, I went up to NYC for the grand opening. After a "comfortable" bus ride, I arrived in the big apple, where my fiance was waiting with a bouquet of flowers (*gotta say, after 9 yrs together, I'm still crazy in love with him). After dropping my luggage off at the hotel, we rushed over to the opening event.

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. All I heard was what I was told by my fiance ... that I was going to love it. And he was right. I LOVED it! All the artwork was phenomenal - and the event was so much fun!

The following day, we stopped by the exhibition again so that I could take some photos of all the great artwork. Here are just a few - enjoy!

press: shine dc.

A few weeks back, I met up with the lovely Sue from Shine DC for a casual interview. Shine DC is a wonderful blog based in Washington, DC dedicated to "changing and promoting the image of DC/VA/MD’s creative scene, giving it the credit and recognition it deserves with a simplified, uncluttered voice."

Many of you may or may not know this, but I am a very "introverted" person. Throughout the recent years, I've learned to semi-deal with my shyness. Nowadays, I can handle a phone or email interview without a problem. However to do an actual face to face interview, I must admit I still get the jitters. My hands start sweating and I tend to squirm in my seat. However those signs of shyness can be "hidden." What can't be hidden is when you start blushing. Yes, I blush! ... uncontrollably whenever someone asks me a question ... it's so embarrassing :(

Though I may have blushed a bit during my interview, I must say that sitting down with Shine DC was actually very cool. The interview didn't feel like an interview ... It felt more like I was chatting with a good friend about what I was doing nowadays. Sue definitely has a knack for interviewing people, and I commend her for what she's doing with her blog, Shine DC! Congrats!
